Van Gaal Is Top Candidate For Munich Job?

13 04 2009

r135384_456993

According to early reports coming out of Germany, there is another little bit of irony added to their Champions League match against Barcelona on Tuesday.    Van Gaal mentioned that he was delighted to become the Bayern coach in an interview with NRC.

The AZ president and the fans want me to extend my stay at the club and become AZ’s Alex Ferguson. However, I still have the ambition to coach a big team or a national side and I will certainly leave AZ in 2010.

He also did mention that his next step was to move to a big club or even coach a national team. Although his current contract with AZ Alkmaar expires in 2010, there is a clause stating that he can leave if he obtains an offer from Italy, Germany, Argentina, Spain, or any of the Dutch national teams.

Currently AZ Alkmaar is in first place and has the possibility of winning their first title in 28 years with a win against Willem II.  They would also become the first team since Feyenoord (’98’-’99) to win the title outside of PSV and Ajax.

Arsenal Take Home Cake (And Away Goal)

Villarreal 1-1 Arsenal

VIL: Senna (10′)
ARS: Adebayor (66′)
If there was a match to watch because of the beauty of the goal it was this one.  Marcos Senna opened the scoring for the Yellow Submarine with a hellfire of a shot from about 25-30 meters out, beating out Manuel Almunia early on, but it would be their first half that would be a clinic in moving the ball around.  Arsenal came back in the second half simply had the home side defending everything within their own 18.  The English side absolutely dominated the game in the second half and that form would be established after Togolese international Emanuel Adebayor scored one of the top ten goals of the tournament. MAF X

7 04 2009

Yes, how time flies.  We now have posted ten shows in this new cycle.  You know what it could not have been at a better time and with a better guest.  CNN SI’s Greg Sica was with and he taught us about the best hang outs and why everyone in Uruguay loves TITS (not those, you pervs!).  George starts to feel the the effects of strip clubs as well as his new partnership with Dr. Sica as they scrounge the world looking for hot soccer women.

Oh by the way we did talk about  South America, Spain, Champions League, and some CONCACAF in this edition of Mad About Futbol.
